$PATH contains multiple entries

Hi,

I have just done a fresh install of Familiar 0.6.1 and Opie (unstable).
I have installed a few apps using ipkg but not much else. I just glanced
at my $PATH and this is what it looks like from an SSH session.

~ # echo $PATH
/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/games:/opt/QtPalmtop/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin

If I look at it using Konsole on the iPAQ I get even more duplicates and
some triplicates.

What effect does this have on the system? If they could cause problems,
are there any suggestions on how to remove these duplicates?
