I'm not sure about the problems people have had with minicom. Sure there is
a timeout issue. But if you do a fake Ctrl+A S and change the directory to
where the files to be uploaded are, then cancel. minicom will remember what
dir you were in. Then when ever you have to do a send for real you will be
in the dir you needed.
