Quite straightforward BUT unfortunately there are multiple flavours of
802.11b drivers. If your hardware doesn't work with the wlan driver,
you have to use the wlan-ng driver, which doesn't implement
/proc/net/wireless for statistics reporting.

You can probably get some useful information by searching for
