free serial port

Hi!

We are working on an Application based on IPAQ/Familiar/QPE, that will
be the "main computer" of a vehicle called "Läufer", see
http://www.projekt-laeufer.de for details. This application needs
excluseive access to the serial port of the ipaq, because we attach a
embedded-system there to make the ipaq connect to the CAN-bus inside the
vehicle.

We have a working dual serial/usb-cradle and i managed to install
usb-networking (just after reboot).

So, what are my options from now on to free the serial port? Just using
the framebuffer is no good idea, since it writes all through qpe then.

Any suggestion would be appriciated...
