Not responding to keyboard

I installed Familiar V0.4 and all went well. I installed a few packages,
then shutdown and rebooted. Now it won't respond to the keyboard in
either the bootldr, or at the login prompt. I'm using hyperterminal.
Any suggestions on how to proceed?
