Hey all -
I've spent some time this weekend playing with my ipaq setup. Got the
PocketZip working (needs actual hardware surgery), and have now moved
on to getting my Stowaway keyboard more easily usable, without removing
the ability to get in over the serial port via either login or ppp.
One approach would be to shut off the init respawn of getty, and manually
spawn one when needed. That has certain appealing features, but I didn't
think of it until just now, so I went another way.
Since init is respawning getty, I set up another runlevel (4) that is
identical to 2, but without a getty, with a stowd spawning script. (I
also added a kill stowd script to 2)
This all works marvelously, telinit 2 and telinit 4 starting and stopping
getty and stowd, as appropriate. So I went to bed.
This morning, I find a problem: apparently, deep sleep screws up
the serial port such that stowd no longer works. Switching to getty
_and logging in_ resets something so that stowd (and my stowaway)
work again. Not optimal, since the point of having the keyboard is to
replacing hauling the laptop around.
So, my question: Anyone else experience something similar? If so,
have you found a workaround? Does upgrading to 2.4.6+ fix this? (I'm
still on 2.4.3: tried 2.4.6, but the single PC card sleeve support is
currently broken)
