Old iPaq Serial Ports

I have an application that sends information between the iPaq and PC. I
tried my serial app on two iPaqs with the serial #s starting with "4G06"
and it always ends up crashing the application on the PC side. When I use
my other iPaq that has a "4G0C" serial, it works fine.

Does anyone know if changes were made to the serial port as Compaq updated
their iPaqs? Any suggestions on what I can do to try and find a fix or
work around?
