Well, I am guilty of writing this up. I added it since I had a
512k partition and the kernel wouldn't boot (with the message
given there). Jamey told me on IRC to make sure I have a big enough
kernel size. I guess a compressed image unpacks at over 512k.

If you find out more, feel free to add it to the wiki page. I
personally installed the old kernel for now, since I am not yet
ready to lose my familiar installation (intimate is not touched
by a re-partitioning).

I also guess the familiar instructions should be changed to give the
bigger kernel partition size. Might be the case already, but wan't a
few days ago when I installed familiar.
