How to make a jffs2 image

Hi,

I'd like to make a own jffs2 image based on the familiar v0.4 distribution. I
had some problems with that:

I got mkfs.jffs2 from the URL
ftp://ftp.uk.linux.org/pub/people/dwmw2/iPAQ/mkfs.jffs2

and created an image with that tool using the following command line:
mkfs.jffs2 -r root -o root.jffs2 -e 0x40000 -p

I uploaded my kernel and the resulting jffs2 image to my iPAQ.

After booting the kernel (2.4.3) I got only the following error messages
while trying to access my jffs2 partition:

Old JFFS2 bitmask found at 0x00914288
You cannot use older JFFS2 filesystems with newer kernels
Old JFFS2 bitmask found at 0x00914994

Old JFFS2 bitmask found at 0x00916878

....

I've read somewhere that there has been a format change in jffs2, so maybe
I'm using a mkfs.jffs2 version which is to old. Does anybody know where to
get a newer version?

I tried to compile mkfs.jffs2 on my own, but I got only compile errors!

Can anybody give me advice?
