Thanks Jamey & Carl for the help ... I'm getting closer,
but still not there.
I have modified network.opts
DHCP="n"
PUMP='n'
and wireless.opts
MODE="Managed"
The "operation failed" message no longer occurs. :-)
Here's what I get now with ifconfig and iwconfig:
# ifconfig

inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0

--- But I can't ping anything... here's an example:
# /bin/ping handhelds.org
ping: unknown host handhelds.org
I get unknown host for everything, and if I type in an
IP address I never get a reply.
--- Thinking that maybe I needed to configure the channel
for the Access Point, I tried:
# iwconfig wvlan0 channel 6
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module net-pf-4
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module net-pf-5
SIOCSIWFREQ: Operation not supported
As others have said... still no joy. Any other ideas
are really appreciated.
Thanks,
Ellen
