Ellen,

I think your card is working.

If you're not using DHCP, then set DHCP="n", and you will not get the
operation failed message any more.

The ifconfig shows that it is setting the IP address on the card to
192.168.1.101. If this is not the correct address, then you need to
edit the entry in network.opts. If it is, then you are all done.
