While this would be a solution, we'd need a special "server" to do this.
And unpacking a ipkg file to get just the data.tar.gz puts unneeded load
onto the server.

This is a problem based on the fact, that there is only one place like
/usr/local. Of cause you could use CF-card 1 (with e.g. xemacs) for a
couple of minutes and than swap to CF-card 2 (with e.g. gcc). And you
could use CF-card 1 (in slot 1) for /usr/local and CF-card (in slot 2)
for /home.

Is there a public debian system, where i can explore debian (I'm running
Trustix and Mandrake at home) and where can I find documentation for the
debian menu system (or the .desktop files)?
