Installing packages over serial cable

Hi all,

I am installing Familiar v0.4 on my iPaq and got stopped at the point where
I have to run "ipkg install". To my understanding I need to hook up my
iPaq to the network and have it access the internet. My iPaq has no PCMCIA
or CF sleeve and so I cannot get on the network. Can I just download the
meta_package into my iPaq and install it from there?
