Building anything with bitbake?

Greets,

When I issue

$ bitbake gpe-image

it builds everything from package quilt-native and gnu-config-native to
base-files and base-passwd then dies with:

 NOTE: package base-passwd-3.5.9: completed
 ERROR: Nothing provides busybox
 ERROR: dependency busybox (for task-bootstrap) not satisfied
 NOTE: no buildable providers for task-bootstrap
 ERROR: dependency task-bootstrap (for gpe-image) not satisfied
 NOTE: no buildable providers for gpe-image

After that, I tried a 'bitbake gpe-todo' with debugging turned on and got

 OE Build Configuration:
 BB_VERSION = "1.2.1"
 OE_REVISION = "405f1ddde81597ae78514f63ec124a4eebe6f28a"
 TARGET_ARCH = "arm"
 TARGET_OS = "linux"
 MACHINE = "h3600"
 DISTRO = "familiar-0.8.2"
 TARGET_FPU = ""

 ERROR: Nothing provides coreutils-native
 ERROR: dependency coreutils-native (for gpe-todo) not satisfied
 NOTE: no buildable providers for gpe-todo

What am I doing wrong, any ideas?

TIA,
