Hi Paul & Rene,

today I also gave the 20050913 snapshot a try.
After the first boot audio was working OK ... but after a reboot audio ceased
working. So I can partly confirm Paulīs findings.

#echo test > /dev/dsp
... just did not return (as if the other end of a pipe is broken ...)

As it worked after the first boot it might be a little thing only - but until
know I was not able to figure it out. Below some information which might be
usefull to find the troubles source:
