I have an iPAQ 3970 and can test the kernel for 0.8.3.

The fact that you mentioned fixes done for -sa while I had
problems with the -pxa versions made me wonder whether I
was compiling the right kernel. I assume "sa" stands for
StrongARM, but I am not sure and I also don't know whether
such a kernel might run on an XScale.
Koen, considering that you have successfully built
a 3900 image I assume that you have the needed replacement
of -3.3.3 with -3.3.4 in your repository. Can you push them
into oe-devel.bkbits.net?

Then the question here is: should 0.8.3 be delayed until the
MMC/SD card patch went into the upstream kernel and can be pulled
from there in (presumably) -h41?
