Hi,

gosh, it seems I've triggered quite a discussion :o)
Some comments (all in my opinion of course):

>i don't think it is as good as it sounds. In several languages (e.g. German)
>"Handy" is used as a synonym for "Cellphone". That would lead to some confusion...

I say it's a *lucky* coaccident :o)

>Looking at the suggestions on the WiKi I like: Unity

I like the idea of emphasizing joint efforts in the name but 'Unity' is
too big word.
The way too pathetic. It's a nice name for a political party or
something :o)

>Handy doesnt necessarily mean that it is in a handheld device. "Handy"
>also can mean "useful" or "versatile" which I think is a good description
>
That's exactly the point. 'Handy Linux' is suggestive in the nice way.
It has that sort
of humor Linux people (and other technology enthusiasts) are used too.

>"Linux" or "embedded" in the name? Neither SuSE nor RedHat have that...

Well, they are what they are - some regular distro's. I think Familiar
is a bit special and
that is to be reflected in the name. Also I'd keep 'Linux' as a part of
name for the same
reason.

>Unity is just not hardcore or badass enough for this. What IS hardcore

Heh, why not? I though of the mascot of an open hand but I like the
image of the
stylized hummer in the hand, pretty much like they had it in USSR but
may be
with somewhat less aggressive colors. Nothing is as handy as good
hummer :o)

That is a strong point. On other hand it's difficult to come up with an
unique
name that can't be googled. They put a lot of weird stuff on the Internet
this days :o)
