IMHO there is no real roadmap in the porting projects. The iPAQ
mailinglist (ipaq@handhelds.org) is the place to coordinate this.

If you use IRC, you'll find most people working on h5xxx at freenode net
in #handhelds.org.
There is still enough of work to do for the h5xxx iPAQs because the
hardware is complex and the time of most developers is very limited. On
the other hand there is some documentation about these devices freely
available (see link above), so everyone with some coding skills should
be able to help.

The first step was correct :-) You should download and install the GCC
3.3.1 crosscompiler toolchain which is available at handhelds.org
website too. (assuming you use an x86 PC). I'm not a great kernel
hacker, but i did some small parts and it was fun :-) In particular the
feeling if something starts to work :-)
