Brick, definite brick

Hi,
I was in bootldr_v2_16_19, and right after doing a :
partitions reset

I did a :
KernelCmp kernel

The iPAQ did not like this, and when I looked at the screen, the pretty
bootldr screen was replaced by a bar of colors going up and down along the
long end of the LCD, a little bit right off-center. It no longer loads up
the bootldr, and I see a very minor change in the color of the screen when
I hit the reset button. What is the procedure for a bricked ipaq?
Thanks.
