stable bootldr

I need the ability to quickly test kernels and have noticed a
"download_kernel" option in the bootldr documentation. I am using bootldr
2.14.8 and it does not seem to have this parameter. Is there a stable
version of the bootldr that would allow me to boot kernels without
flashing them?
