Bricked ipaq 3650

I had a working bootloader and familiar 6.0 setup on my 3650.

I then restored the wince_image.gz backup take from before my trials with
familiar. The restored perfectly.

I then tried to apply a rom upgrade from compaq.com. It rendered my
ipaq useless.

Is there anything I can do to reload anything with a serial cable?

Any ideas?
