stuck at the penguin

I have a iPAQ 3150 with familiar+opie on it. Brian (I forget his last
name) from Compaq/HP installed it for me at the LinuxWorld in SF some
time ago since I didn't have a serial cable. Thank you.
Since then I have run ipkg update and ipkg upgrade and updated the
machine. The last time I did this, the ipaq froze but after a reboot, it
came back ok. After two reboots, it goes past the bootloader and shows
the penguin on the screen with a blinking cursor...but that's it.
Nothing from there. Any clues?
