Trying to flash from CF card

        Hello All,

For a project I am describing a specialized installation procedure for familiar Linux, so I reflash the root partition a couple of times a day and I got fed up by having to wait for x/ymodem transfers taking 10-20 minutes each time. I was triggered by one of the URL's that I read the other day about a command like this:

        copy hda1:/images/bootopie-v06-13.jffs2 root

For this purpose I have taken a blank Compaq 64MB CompactFlash card, first formatted it to fat32 in my W2000 laptop. I even created an images directory on the card and placed the .jffs2 in there.

But, when executing the command, I get the following output:

boot> copy hda1:/images/bootopie-v06-13.jffs2 root

And the iPaq locks until I reset it. I have also tried the following set of commands, but trying the vfat ls command also locks the iPaq.

In my desk I also have a IBM 260MB IDE PCMCIA Type III disk that fits quite well in the 2-slot sleeve and this drive gives the same result. I have managed to just loan an IBM MicroDrive for just a few minutes and that one worked fine!

The IBM microdrive was the only thing that worked so far. I have reformatted the CF card in my W2000 laptop with fat instead of fat32, but no luck there either. The CF Card won't work via a CompactFlash sleeve, nor the 2-slot sleeve using a card adapter.

I have also formatted the CF card from Linux itself, but no changes.

BTW. I use BootLoader version 2.18.48.

What is going wrong?

        Cheers,
