Flashing large image

I'm working on a project involving Linux on iPaq 3700's. I used the Familiar distribution with bootloader 2.18.01 to setup a prototype unit. I now need some clones of that unit for production. About 26 MB of the flash is occupied. I used the "upload flash" command to generate an image on my desktop machine then tried to write it back using "load root" to validate it. The download ( which took about 75 minutes ) got to within several seconds of completing then the iPaq's screen went blank and the connection was lost. I also tried generating the image with "upload root" which resulted in a 32 MB file. Is this the right way to go about this? If not, is there a good way to clone disk images? Is there a known issue with loading large files? I really appreciate any suggestions you can provide and your continuing efforts on this great piece of software - the iPaq/Linux solution saved my project countless hours and dollars. Thanks!
