The Newbie Can't get the iPAQ to ping or reboot CE

I've loaded Compaq OHH BootLoader, Rev 2-18-1 and Familiar v0.5.3
task-bootserial.jffs2.
 
I still cannot ping to or from the iPAQ 3835.
 
I loaded the modules dependent on an including task-x_0.3_arm.ipk by
hand and get

     list!
 
My backups of the wince_image.gz unzip with "Error: unexpected end of
file encountered."
 
Although I backed up the wince image to an SD card I haven't a clue as
to how to get it
and reboot with it.
 
Please help.
