You probably need to kill the Activesync application on your desktop
because it will take Com1 and not let hyperterminal use that port. Once
you have fixed that problem, you will want to press the center of the
joypad button while doing a soft reset and that should bring you to the
linux bootloader screen on the ipaq. Then establish your hyperterminal
session and proceed from there.

Subject: [Bootldr] Question.

Hi,

I'm trying to install Linux on my brand new Compaq Ipaq H3800. I'm
following the Bootloader installation instructions
   ( http://www.handhelds.org/feeds/bootldr/install.html )

Everything went perfectly; now I have the splash screen. When I press
the Calendar button or press space in the HyperTerminal emulator, I do
not get the bootloader console prompt.

The problem must be that I do not have a Hyperterminal connection.
I'm using a serial cradle, and the given configurations: 115200 baud,
no flow control, 8 bits, and no parity.
I'm using COM3 to connect -- the other Com ports give the error
message "Unable to open Com [1/2/4]" Com 3 tells me I am connected.

I'm unable to get to the bootloader console. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help and time,

                        -Aman.
