First of all I'm going to make you feel bad and tell you that bootldr 2.9.5 would have been a downgrade from the 2.14.15 you were running. :)

1) Did you verify the MD5 sum of the file before you uploaded it?
2) Are you sure you sent bootldr-0000 and not bootldr-c002 ?
Either way, it sounds like your iPAQ is now a paperweight. You can probably get Compaq to repair it.
One last thing to try before you do:
Recharge your iPAQ to full. Open the slider on the bottom left (if your screen is facing up) of your iPAQ, flick the switch left. Wait 30
seconds. Flick the switch to the right again. Plug the power adapter in again. Hook your iPAQ up to hyperterminal. Turn the power on, and
repeatedly press the calendar button. See if you get a boot prompt.
