Help needed with bootloader

Hello,

first I have to say, that I hardly have any experience using Linux or any
handheld-PCs.
I just bought a Compaq Ipaq 3630 from Lisa-systems. It was previously used
by Lisa as a developers-device, and has the arm-bootloader (V. 218.01)
preinstalled.
Unfortunately, the only software that came with it, was Active-Sync, and
the Online-Tour-CD, I did'nt get any Linux-software or backup-files with
it.
When I started the device the first time, it worked properly, with the
graphic-interface loaded and everything.
Then I once hit the reboot-button from the start menue, and the handheld
didn't turn on anymore at all.
Not knowing what I was supposed to do then, I soft-rebooted the device
(putting the pen in the little hole on the bottom right, while pressing
the Main-Button).

The only thing that started then was the Arm-bootloader-screen with the
little penguin on it.

Pressing either one - the Calender or Task-Manager-Button only had (and
still has) the effect, that the ipaq turns off again, and the only way to
get any picture on it is,
to soft-reboot it again.

Being completely desperate, I followed the instructions on your page, to
restore the windowsCE-Software, although I'm not even sure, if I did that
properly.

Here's a short description of what I did:

- Download of the SP20011.exe from Compaq
- Extracted the file, and removed the first 32 bytes from the
NK_Mac18700GER.nbf - file with Hex-Editor
- connected to the Ipaq via Hyperterminal (which worked fine)
- uploaded only the .nbf-File via x-term
- softbooted the ipaq again (nothing happended, except for the
ARM-Bootloader-Screen showing again)

I then reconnected the Ipaq to the PC again, built up another session with
Hyperterminal, and typed in "boot wince"
Disabling LCD controller.. was shown, but that had no further effect
either.
I also tried a hard-reboot with the little slider, which also wasn't
successful.

Actually, I would like to install WinCE on my Pocket PC, but getting it to
work at all would also be a great help.

I would really appreciate, if you had any advice for me on what to do now.

Thanks in advance

Sonja Robertz
