The 'boot>' prompt indicates that you already have the bootldr installed.
It sounds like you never started a transfer, so it is waiting for you to send some data. It is safe to reset at this point by pushing the recessed reset button at the bottom right. You will have to remove the ipaq from the cradle to do so.
