new bootloader from SavaJe

I have a iPAQ 3760 which I got from SavaJe, loaded with their Java OS,
not WinCE. It has a boot loader:

  boot> ver
  Compaq OHH BootLoader, Rev 2-14-17 [BIG_KERNEL] [MONO] savaJe4
  Last link date: Wed Jan 23 15:43:44 CST 2002

How can I install a more recent bootloader in order to load Linux?
http://www.handhelds.org/feeds/bootldr/install.html only has
instructions for loading the bootloader from WinCE.
I can connect to the existing bootloader via the serial cable
and can do xmodem xfers.
