Hi,
How could I go about creating (or finding - all the better) an
updated package with USB networking support for the X50 (not v)?

Subject: [Aximx50-port] X50v package with usb networking support
Hi,
I've prepared a package that enables x50v users to boot in linux and
login to the pda through usb networking and ssh.
The files are in http://lumumba.uhasselt.be/~jedi/x50v-linux/new/
As usual, put x50v-rootfs.img on the root dir of your SD card (fat32
formatted with one partition), and put haret_uart.exe, default.txt,
zImage and initrd.gz anywhere (I put them on my SD card in a directory
"x50v-linux")
There is a minor issue with the usb networking: You have to boot with
the cradle connected, and then when at the opie screen, plug the pda
out and in again. You can then use usbnet on linux (there is something
for windows too, but I don't know).
The pda has network address 10.0.0.2, so for your connection choose
f.e. 10.0.0.1 (ifconfig usb0 10.0.0.1). You can then login with ssh
(ssh root_at_10.0.0.2). The default password is x50v-linux.
I hope someone else than me gets this working!
Greetz,
JeDi
