x50v Framebuffer

hello all
I recently acquired an x50v to play with. I have the kernel source for x50 and
have managed to boot a kernel(via Haret). I can get to a shell access as I
have a serial cable connected , however there is nothing on the Dell screen.
So im guessing the frame buffer is hosed. or am i wrong ? I would love to get
the framebuffer working, any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
