That's because the 0.3.6 version isn't modified and just doesn't start
booting the kernel. That's also the reason why you don't loose your
data: the RAM isn't overwritten.
I think Fisherss et al were very happy when the pda hard-resetted for
the first time using haret, cause that's a sign it is actually working
:-)

Probably yes, but we'll have to ask Fisherss for that. Apart from a
nice penguin loading bar, I don't think upgrading will be a big
difference (allthough the "fading to white" bug might be gone in later
versions).
