  Do you or anyone else know any links to websites or books that provides comprehensive tutorial on linux as this would be really helpful so I dont keep asking individual questions or definitons :).
   
  I am sorry if this isn't the right way to go about it as I do not want to stall the progress so far made n the port and well done everyone that has contributed to the project.

initrd = short for inital root drive (more or less) is used
to get the system running far
enough for the next stage
ext2 image = commonly a "snapshot " of a harddrive in a file in this
case actually is used by opie
haret = the boot loader would normally be one of LILO or Grub but...
OPIE = this would be what is on the ext2 image and would be
the brand or distribution of linux being used
