Questions in preparation for Linux X50V/624 & Rom Backup

Looking at fisherss site, I think I am ready to try'n put Linux on my
Axim X50V/624. I have a couple questions.

First: The references I found are regarding 430/520MHZ models, but not
of the 624. Does anybody have experience with Linux in the X50v
624MHz?

Second: How would I make a backup of the (WM 2003SE) ROM, just in case
I have a problem with Linux?

Third: Is it possible to use CFCard for programming/Flash? I have a
couple CF Cards, but no SD cards (yet). I expect not, but thought I'd
ask anyway.

So, now, I just got to get my PDA back from my friend, find my card
reader, and get an SD card. I hope that I can use it soon!
