Have you tried it with a fresh erase/reboot of the x50v. I had a few isses
where I couldn't get the kernel to boot as well and I found that SE_VGA, a
program installed on my x50v, was keeping the kernel from showing
framebuffer output.
Good luck ... don't give up you'll get it!
