reformat (or check) the ROM of x50v

Hi guys,

Is it there any tools to reformat (or check) the ROM of x50v?
Currently, my OS is 2003SE A05 English. I wanna such a
tool because I suspect the follow problems are caused by a
bad ROM format.

(1) I can't see the Built-in Storage from the "File Explorer".
     I only can store data into the RAM. So I tried to solve
     this problem by upgrading to WM50.

(2) Dell's WM50 A01 upgrade program freezes at the last
     step, which is formatting the flash ROM.

(3) Upgrade to WM50 A01 using SD card image loader also
     fails. It freezes at the "erasing storage" step.

An interesting thing is both (2) and (3) freeze at about 40%.

Does anybody know how to solve my problems?
