The wiki on handhelds.org has much information in it. But if you're
not a developer, kernel development will be a very difficult topic to
jump in to. But a very interesting topic too.

For now, you won't be able to connect to your pda with that (no usb
networking drivers yet). The first thing I'm going to try if Richard
sorts things out, is getting some sort of networking up and running
without a serial cable (which is for now the only choice of
communication with the pda): infrared, bluetooth, usb, wifi. If one of
these are working (preferably usb, cause everyone has the cradle),
more people can help with the development.
