here is the main link i used
http://www.heyrick.co.uk/assembler/, it mainly covers
the british acorn computers and riscOS back when arm
used a 26bit program counter but they talk about 32
bit compatability and how to do it plus i assume you
wouldnt need to write entire programs including
interfacing to the os in asm
i learnt it so i could embed a bit of asm for the mmx
routines into my code, be able to write boot up
sequences and perhaps see if i could speed up some
things in the linux kernel (ie port aes-i586-mmx to
iwmmx for arm for faster vpn stuff and moive players)
the aes stuff i belive used inline asm embedded in c
code
some other documents that are helpful are the iwmmx
and arm-xscale arcetecture docs from the intel and arm
websites. its amazing what you can find like the iwmmx
is actually a coprocessor that only turns on when you
need it and there is a performance acceleration
coprocessor that helps you to determine (amoung other
usages) if you would gain more performance from faster
mem, more mem or a faster cpu
while on the topic of iwmmx there is an accelerated
mplayer with iwmmx instructions that uses the pxa
frame buffer, its for the zaurus but makes use of low
level writes and is also designed for a 640*480
screen, it takes care of orientation and such and is
not dependent on Qt so it should work on the x50 low
and x50 mid. it gets performance a bit lower than
betaplayer but can play the betaplayer samples @ over
100 % so could be worth looking into (beware its a
japense site thats been machine translated)

hope that helps all you wanting to play moives when
linux on the x50 becomes more mature
