A start indeed.
I have expressed interest in helping out previously as well.. I was
also able to get Haret working, but I had no idea what to do once I got
a command line :\ ... I'm no coder, but I have something like seven
years of experience with the penguin and have compiled custom kernels
under slackware and gentoo (no coding required, thanks to 'make
menuconfig'.. But it does mean that I know which aspects are required
for a working kernel).
It seems like now would be a good time to go to Dell to get detailed
hardware specs, since they're offering Ubuntu pre-installed now on some
of their equipment. One would think that they'd be happy to enhance
their standing with the linux crowd. I'd be happy to write up a nice
letter/email if we knew to whom it should be sent and what exactly I
should be asking for.
It looks like the X50 port is stalled, too..
http://handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/DellAximX50 .. I seem to recall that
the X50 shares some hardware w/ the X30... It would probably be useful
to touch base with the people working there too.
It's really nice to see some activity here again!
