we dont strip down X at all, we just use matchbox @
http://projects.o-hand.com/matchbox/, mainly when it
comes to devlopers we need someone to compile code and
mabey do some patches for things like wifi (which tend
to be broken for PDA's)
if you are willing you caould have a look at the links
i posted to the fourm and look at compileing a working
kernel, once you can do that then you should start
work on your own initrd for testing or modify the one
pointed to by the wiki
if you get that far then you just need to compile
modules in and test them eg flash support, see if you
can write, if you cant then you need to f**8 around
with the io pins on the micro and retest, when you can
write then you have just found the read/write enable
line for the flash chip and we can replace windows CE
other things you can compile in are the bluetooth
drivers, look at trying the x3 sound driver and other
misc modules to see how much hardware works out of the
box. the stuff that dosent needs to be "fixed" and
that means programming, there was some common hardware
with the x3 so you might want to look at the chipset
list and see what you can 'aquire' we already have
permission as long as we advise them as any change we
do help them out as well
unless you want this kept private just foward a copy
of this email to the list, i will leave it up to you
