I'd say it must provide cross compilation. We will shortly have Xscale
as a target and I believe we are unlikely to have a Xscale native
development environment in a timely manner. Cross compilation could also
target mips, sh, etc.
I'm planning on digging into buildd from debian with an eye towards
using that as a starting base. Lineo has a complete cross compile tool
suite, but I have not been able to get that released yet.
I'd like to see the system have signatures for source packages as well
as built binaries. You trust the builder by signature, and also trust
that the packagers signature is real, cause the binary no longer
contains the source that was signed.
Binaries can be signed like in debian, ie: the package list is signed.
So a given set of packages and the signed package file should be
distributed together.
I'd hope for a similar package upload system to what you setup but for
source packages. These are then auto-built for each arch and error logs
mailed back to the submitter.
