It is possible to use, say, initramfs with basic shell and set of scripts to
mount root on CF card. You may put modprobe/insmod there with needed modules
etc.

It is possible to do the same thing with initrd.

With insmod all nesessary modules CF should be recognised without cardmgr.
Or, to have these modules compiled into kernel, so card should be found at
kernel boot.
